The Plaza Executive Health Club Member of the Month for March is Ashley Cummings! Congrats Ashley!
Q: What do you like most about the Plaza Health Club?
A: Friendly staff, convenience, and of course the A.M. Ladies
Q: How long have you been exercising and what was your daily routine prior to beginning an exercise regimen?
A: I was a bookworm, not an athlete, in high school. I started exercising in college but finally fell in love with exercise in law school. Exercise clears my head and untangles my thoughts.
Q: What were your eating habits like?
A: Oh, we really don't want to talk about my eating habits. That's why I run! Actually, Lara Sevener-friend, Plaza member and Veggie-said to me,"Why not just go a week without any meat? See if you miss it." That was over a year ago and she's right, I still don't miss it. I have a new appreciation for all kinds of fruits and vegetables. And I feel great.
Q: What are your current exercise routine and eating habits?
A: Long runs on Saturday mornings, vary cardio and weights during the week, drinks lots of water, and keep a variety of healthy snacks on hand.
Q: How long has it been since you started working out at the Plaza and what accomplishment(s) have you achieved?
A: It is hard to believe, but I've worked out here for 10 years. Thanks to Stan the Man, my trainer and friend for all 10 years, for encouraging me to push the limits: "Last Set, Best Set!"
Q: What made you change your lifestyle and follow a consistent workout schedule?
A: I am so much happier when exercise is a regular part of my life. It keeps everything else in perspective and in balance.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Pensacola, Florida
Q: What is your major accomplishment?
A: Running 5 marathons. (Phoenix, Big Sur, Georgia ING, Richmond, San Diego) Running four of them with Team in Training (TNT), to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society- a cause that helps so many patients and families. At TNT we train all levels of runners to compete half and full marathons, as well as triathalons, century bike rides, and hikes. If you're interested, ask me or go to www.teamintraining.org. Signing up with TNT was the second best decision I have ever made. The first was marring Steve Cummings, who meets me at every finish line. :)
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Atlanta?
A: Spend Saturday afternoon at The High Museum
Q: Favorite restaurant?
A: Mezza, a Lebanese bistro on La Vista Road.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: Travel!
Q: Favorite movie/ actor /actress?
A: Love Actually. Watch it next holiday season...you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll feel love actually.
Q: Favorite book?
A: One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Q: Favorite vacation spot?
A: That is a tough choice! Anywhere in Europe. For a quick trip, I'm always homesick for Pensacola Beach.
Q: If I could, I would...
A: Move to Barcelona and write a best-selling travel book.
